About RinggitWise

Empowering every Malaysian to make smarter, more confident financial decisions β€” for free.

Our Mission

RinggitWise was founded in 2026 with one clear goal: to give every Malaysian β€” from fresh graduates in Klang Valley to retirees in Penang β€” free, accurate, and transparent tools to understand their money. Personal finance in Malaysia is uniquely complex. Between conventional and Shariah-compliant products, EPF and PRS, ASB and unit trusts, RPGT and stamp duty, MRTA and MLTA, ordinary Malaysians are often forced to navigate a maze of jargon without honest guidance.

We built RinggitWise to change that. Our calculators use the same formulas the banks use. Our guides reflect the actual rules from Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN), and the Securities Commission. Our content is written for Malaysians, in plain English (and Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin), with examples in Ringgit.

What Makes Us Different

  • Malaysia-first, always. Every calculator uses Malaysian bank rates, BNM OPR, EPF dividend rates, and LHDN tax brackets. No imported US/UK assumptions.
  • Islamic finance native. Murabahah, Musyarakah, Wakalah, Takaful β€” every conventional calculator has a Shariah-compliant counterpart with profit rates instead of interest.
  • No paywalls. No spam. Every tool is free. We don't sell your email. We don't bury features behind sign-ups.
  • Transparent methodology. Each calculator page explains the formula used, the assumptions made, and the limitations. We show our working.
  • Trilingual content. Switch between English, Bahasa Malaysia, and δΈζ–‡ with a single click.

Our Methodology

We take accuracy seriously because financial decisions affect real lives. Our process:

  1. Source verification. Interest rates, EPF dividends, and tax brackets are cross-referenced against bank websites, BNM publications, and LHDN tax forms. We update them quarterly or whenever there's a major policy change.
  2. Formula transparency. Every calculator's logic is documented. For mortgages, we use the standard amortisation formula M = P Γ— [r(1+r)^n] / [(1+r)^n βˆ’ 1]. For Islamic financing, we use the diminishing musharakah profit calculation. For tax, we apply LHDN's official progressive tax brackets.
  3. Real-world testing. Calculators are tested against bank-issued loan offer letters and LHDN e-Filing results to ensure outputs match what Malaysians actually see in practice.
  4. Continuous updates. Rates change. Regulations evolve. We track BNM Monetary Policy Committee meetings, federal Budget announcements, and bank rate revisions to keep everything current.

Who We Are

RinggitWise is built and maintained by a small team of personal finance enthusiasts based in Malaysia. The founder has over a decade of experience in software engineering and personal investing in the Malaysian market β€” through the 2014 oil shock, the 2020 pandemic, and the 2023–2025 high-rate environment. Our content team includes contributors with backgrounds in tax, banking, and Islamic finance.

We are not licensed financial advisers. We do not sell financial products. We don't earn commission from banks or insurers. Our income comes from advertising and affiliate partnerships clearly disclosed on each page. This independence lets us write objectively about every product β€” including the ones we don't link to.
